The sound created by the families of woodwind and brass instruments will depend on the length. The longer the instrument, the higher the sound. The sound you hear is created when the air vibrates inside. The wind instruments are created the first from wood. Today, wood is still primary, but some are metal. Brass are only created from brass.
When listening to an orchestra, you hear a lot of brass instruments and the group of wind instruments. The brass section of the orchestra has trumpets, tubas, trombones and French horns. The woodwind section consists of clarinets, flutes, bassoons, oboes and saxophones time.
A large variety of music played with wind instruments and brass music including folk, pop, jazz and rock.
The French Horn
If you released a French horn right, it would be nearly 30 feet long. It is made of metal tubing that is wound with a large bell-shaped cone one end. The French horn plays an important role in bands and orchestras. French horn player puts a hand inside the bell to play. They blow into the mouth and make different sounds by changing the shape of their lips. There are three levers that push players to create different sounds.
Trumpet
Bronze and silver trumpets were played for thousands of years by the ancient Egyptians. Since that time the trumpets were played around the world. Today, they are tightly coiled metal tubing with a bell cone one end and a mouthpiece at the other. The trumpet player pushes down the small valves to make different notes.
The Trombone
The metal tube of the trombone is curled twice. It has a section that moves in and create different notes. This section is called the slide trombone The plays fewer notes than the trumpet that the tube is longer. It was first played 600 years ago.
The Tuba
Widely known as the ancestor of all brass instruments, the tuba plays the lowest notes. It is so great that one who plays must sit and rest this great musical instrument on his lap. The biggest tuba is eight feet high and when held close to forty-five power long.
The sousaphone
John Philip Sousa, an American, invented the sousaphone about 100 years ago. He wanted to create a low brass instrument sounds for brass bands. The sousaphone was indeed a very low depth. The size of this musical instrument is so great that the player must be looped over their bodies and rest on their shoulders. Small button valves close and open to different sounds.
The oboe
beautiful sweet notes come from the long form thin and the oboe. Oboe players blow a double reed consisting of two slices of cane that are tied closely together. The player covers the hole fingers and pressed the little metal caps, called keys, to create different notes. Oboe used in orchestras and large ensembles classical music.
The Clarinet
First heard in the 1700's the sound of the clarinet is sweet and sour. It is also played by a reed, cane sugar and the player can change the sound by moving his mouth to change the vibrations made by the reed. There are finger holes and keys metals clarinet. These create different notes. Soprano clarinet is the most common, but there are several types.
Bassoon
The bassoon Wood is a tube lined with a curved metal crook. This crook has the reed. The crook, it is much easier for the player to blow into the mouthpiece mouth and press the buttons at the same time time. Bassoonists bring their musical instrument on a neck strap when they play.
The Saxophone
The saxophone is actually a metallic wind instrument and was invented about 150 years ago. The saxophone is a metal tube end which widens at one end shaped cones. There are 18-21 finger holes that are covered in small steps. A reed, was again the cane is attached to the tip mouth. The saxophone produces a rich and smooth. The smallest saxophone plays the highest notes. The bass saxophone is the largest and most popular are the alto and tenor.
Harmonica

Many people play the harmonica along with the guitar and can be held in place by a metal frame around the singer's neck.
Sheng
The Chinese sheng was invented thousands of years ago. It consists of 17 bamboo pipes and a gourd. A metal ban holds the pipes together and each has a hole finger and a reed that vibrates when your finger covers the hole. This musical instrument is often played in orchestras in China.
Bagpipes
The bagpipes are just that, a bag of air with many pipes coming out of it from different angles. The bagpipes are played in many countries, including Scotland, Ireland, England, Italy, France, Greece, India and Eastern Europe. The bagpipe with a loud wailing which carries a great distance.
