Construction and general characteristics
Key
The baritone is in row B concert, which means that if no gates are During use of the instrument will produce partials of the harmonic series B. Distinguishing the baritone euphonium
Although both baritone and euphonium produce Partial Series B overtones, and both have a tube nine feet in length in the main, the baritone has a smaller and more cylindrical bore while a euphonium larger and more conical bore. The baritone was also a tighter wrap and a bell much lower, and is thus physically smaller. The euphonium has a more solid basis, Stamp embassy.

In Drum and Bugle Corps (and many bands), the instrument is called a baritone bugle in the key of B which is usually played by trombonists, euphoniumists or baritonists concert. It has 3 valves and a bell from the front and is the voice of a tenor drum corps, under the high sopranos and altos, and especially low contras. Although it is called a baritone, he has almost no resemblance to its namesake concert. It has a soft tone like a trumpet tenor. There is also a walking version of the euphonium, the main differences between the two are almost the same as their counterparts in concert.
Drum and bugle corps
Until 1977, baritone bugles, trumpets as with all of the time were limited to a horizontal piston valve and a rotary valve. This year Drum Corps International Rules of Procedure of the Congress adopted a rule allowing 2 vertical piston valves. The rules were amended again in 1989, allowing the addition of a third valve.
From 1950 until 2000, all the drum and bugle corps were required to use the instruments stored in the key of G. This year Drum Corps International has changed its rules again, allowing instruments in any what key, most other large organizations (eg, Drum Corps Associates) following function shortly after. Since this change, baritone standard was sharp instrument in B.
Fanfare
In high school and college band walking activity, walking baritones are almost always present to facilitate the baritone concert (and sometimes euphonium) players. In some ensembles, trombones are not used in this case, baritones also provide an alternative for trombonists who can not bring their instruments on the ground running.
