Back at the end of 2006 could not have anticipated the success of the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo will not even themselves by the looks of it. Their consoles flew off the shelves during the Christmas lead and became the definitive must-have gift of the season. But it does not stop there.

The Nintendo Wii has been hard to buy for months (and even for more than a year in some places in the world). There were huge deficits and Nintendo could not manufacture enough material to actually shipped to retailers. Now, I'm sure the production handled by Nintendo to a degree (scarcity is an excellent marketing tool, after all), but shortages were real and it was very easy to be no Wii for a long time.

That's why I'll call now: the Nintendo 3DS facing shortages once it is released. There will be another huge rush for the young and old to get their hands on the first gaming device that has been built from the ground to video games with full 3D stereoscopic effect, and there is not even need glasses.

All world will think "Oh, Avatar has been sweet if Nintendo 3DS be great!" And of course they are right. There are so many advanced technologies well packed in the latest handheld from Nintendo and it offers such innovative game experiences (including titles like Kid Icarus: The Revolt and remakes classics like Ocarina of Time) - it will fly the shelves.

In light of this eventuality inevitable, here are some ways survive a shortage of Nintendo 3DS:

1. Preorder a Nintendo 3DS ASAP. This is the only way ensure that you have a device in your hand one day. That said, if you pre-order too late, you can have your 3DS placed out of stock and that could take weeks or months to complete, so get your order before the rush begins.
2. Avoid the temptation to buy a 3DS on eBay. You missed your chance to buy a Nintendo 3DS? Do not waste your money trying to get on auction sites eBay or other. You will find yourself in a bidding war and pay a much higher price compared to CPAP. A little patience, and recover a bundle of money.
3. Be civil. We've all seen videos of parents and children clutching mad for the last must-have gifts and it is not pretty. Yes, the Nintendo 3DS is brilliant and a great gift for Christmas (or anytime of the year), but it not worth losing your cool over. Try a little less hair pulling and a little more respectful of the law.

If you are keen enough to buy a Nintendo 3DS, I would do things about it now. Most retailers will allow you to cancel preorders if you can find a better offer, or a convenience store that has a stock, but it can not hurt to have a backup plan. Otherwise, how will you plunge into the vast world of Mario Kart 3DS, Kid Icarus: Insurrection or Starfox 64 3DS this holiday season?
