History:

Yamaha produces many things, from electronics to bike, but the company was founded as a manufacturer of musical instruments in 1887 and became a major player in the market saxophone.

In those days, the company founder, Torakusu Yamaha launched the company to manufacture pianos and harmonium. With roots deeply musical, the entry Yamaha saxophone on the market was almost inevitable.

The first saxophone Yamaha has hit the market in 1967. In this year Yamaha released the YAS-31 alto, tenor saxophone and the YTS-31. Yamaha entry of baritone sax, the YBS-61 two years later, in 1969. Yamaha now has a full range Saxophone soprano and baritone, and extend from student models to professional models.

Yamaha is known both for their quality, affordable lines of students and their horns worthy professional studio. Yamaha has built their reputation by listening Artists who play their instruments. This is demonstrated by the bonds of the company with Eugene Rousseau from 1973, Jean-Yves Fourmeau in 1987, and Nobuya Sugawa in 1988.

In their first years of production, Yamaha has not been known for having the best quality saxophones. Over the years, however, their reputation has continued to improve. This can be attributed to a manufacturing philosophy that comply with the Japanese "Kaizen" known. The word is better translated as "continual improvement". Under this philosophy, the line of Yamaha saxophone remains in a constant state improvement.
